For over three decades, graduates of our Professional Dog Trainer Program have distinguished themselves in the dog training community. The Professional program is an intensive course focused on hands-on-training. This program provides students with working a wide range of existing dog personalities and training issues. The Professional course is very challenging and requires a strong work ethic, self discipline, and organization.
Testing is based on Nationally recognized dog competition events including those governed by the American Kennel Club (AKC), Schutzhund (DVG, USA, WDA), National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA), United Kennel Club (UKC), and other major national and international kennel clubs. You will receive the most comprehensive education and hands on training in the world which will prepare you for a long term rewarding career in dog training.
The Professional Program provides training in the following areas:
- Obedience (traditional and motivational)
- Puppy Imprinting
- Agility
- Tracking
- Specific Odor Detection
- Teaching Group and Private Obedience Classes
- Public Relations, Sales, and Management
- Police K-9, Schutzhund, Civil Protection, and Security
Our Professional Dog Trainer Certificate is awarded to those students who complete all graduation requirements. The program is 16 weeks long, however some students may need more time. Contingent upon approval by TRS faculty, students may be permitted to stay up to an additional 4 weeks in order to complete all requirements for no additional tuition. All requirements must be completed by dogs acquired after starting the program.
